Experience a full day inside the Nevada Test Site on our exclusive tour with many stops including Mercury (main base camp for the site), Frenchman Flat (where atmospheric nuclear tests were conducted) and the Sedan crater (from the Plowshare program). Visit the Central Nevada Museum and see the birthplace of stealth technology and F-117 fighter/bomber at the Tonopah Test Range. Journey along the original Extraterrestrial Highway to the edge of Area 51, and enjoy an evening at the famous Little A'le'Inn in Rachel. TOUR ITINERARY
IN FLIGHT - to Las Vegas McCarren Airport (LAS)
DAY 1: Area 51, Atomic Energy, and the UFO Connection Arrive this morning at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, and meet your Top Secret Tour Guide. Before leaving the airport, you'll see the "Janet" terminal that operates the special flights and buses for employees of Area 51. Continue downtown for a City Tour of the Las Vegas Strip. Lunch. Afternoon visit to the Atomic Testing Museum (Special Exhibit Area 51: Myth or Reality beginning March 2012). Afternoon check-in at our Las Vegas Hotel. Special Welcome Dinner tonight. DAY 2: Nevada National Security Site (Nevada Test Site) Breakfast and check out of hotel this morning. Early departure to the U.S. Department of Energy Nevada Site Office, for pre-tour briefing. Today we will enjoy a Full Day Tour of the Nevada National Security Site (formerly the Nevada Test Site). The NNSS was the home for America's nuclear testing program from 1951 to 1992, and sprawls over 864,000 acres of land. Our exclusive guided tour of the Nevada Test Site includes many stops, such as Mercury (main base camp for the site), Frenchman Flat (where atmospheric nuclear tests were conducted) and the Sedan crater (from the Plowshare program). Sack lunch and bottled water provided during the tour. Late afternoon return to the nearby town of Indian Springs for hotel check-in and dinner. Dinner on your own tonight at the Indian Springs Casino. Overnight Indian Springs. (B, L)
DAY 3: Tonopah, Home of the F-117 Stealth Fighter Breakfast. Check out of our hotel and continue our journey along the western perimeter of the Nellis Bombing and Gunnery Range. Morning stop in historic Goldfield, the world's last greatest gold camp. In 1902, the discovery of gold put this spot on the map, and the population of Goldfield grew from only two miners to over 20,000 people in just 6 years. Lunch. Next, we will visit the Central Nevada Museum in Tonopah. Birthplace of the stealth F-117 fighter/bomber, we will visit the Central Nevada Museum and see other historic locations like the Mizpah Hotel and the place where Howard Hughs married Jean Peters. Later afternoon check-in at our hotel and relax before dinner. This evening we will search the skies for UFOs and secret aircraft in America's #1 destination for stargazing (USA Today). Overnight Tonopah. (B, D)
DAY 4: Tonopah Army Air Field and Tonopah Test Range Breakfast and hotel check out this morning. Drive east for a tour of the nearby Tonopah Army Air Field, and hear the history of the former military base before, during and after World War II. Continue to the super-secret Tonopah Test Range, where stealth technology was tested by America's top pilots. Sack lunch stop in the Ghost Town of Warm Springs. See the nearby "Base Camp Airfield," an emergency landing strip for test flights out of Area 51. This afternoon we continue south along Highway 375, otherwise known as the "Extraterrestrial Highway" to Rachel. Check-in at the Little A'le'Inn and re-group before visiting the Area 51 back gate. Return to Rachel and relax before dinner. Overnight Rachel. (B, L)
DAY 5: Area 51, Black Mailbox, and Tikaboo Peak Breakfast at the Little A'le'Inn this morning and check out. Visit the so-called black mailbox of Steve Medlin and continue to the Area 51 main gate perimeter. Continue south to Tikaboo Peak Base Camp, and begin our ascent to the top of Tikaboo Peak. Afternoon Area 51 viewing and lunch at nearly 8,000 feet above sea level on Tikaboo Peak (weather permitting). Late afternoon arrival in Las Vegas.
